I've been waiting for years to get this off my chest. So this... thing happened one time driving with Rosmus circa 2003. He wasn't as smelly back than but still pretty damn stinky. He just ate a big container of Indian food when I met him at the 81' Skylark. He was begrudgingly scribbling away on a clipboard and was already sweating perfusly from some Nagamese pork curry. He looked pissed as f*c*. Come to think of it he did smell like Willowbrook Insane Asylum's adult diaper dumpster. I digress. We started the hour with all the usual Rosmus nonsense: Violent sunvisor slaps, chicken brake slams, games of punch buggy etc. Then it got kinda weird. Rosmus told me we were gonna practice parking up hill. We pulled up some small alley behind Jesus Grocery in French Hill. Rosmus kept looking at his pager and started looking super frustrated like he was late for something. He kept tapping the horn and feverishly sending out pages. He started screaming and was about to reach for something in the glove compartment when all of a sudden 3 Filipino women walked out from behind the store. They looked like disheveled 40 somethings and all of them were wearing some ridiculous leopard skin leather fur miniskirt with fishnets which I thought was off for February. Before I could look back to make sure my hands were still at ten and two to insure I wouldn't get slapped again I realized Rosmus was already out of the Skylark with his pants around his ankles in broad daylight! He had two of the girls up on the hood and was violating them to unspeakable levels. The girls played along but you could tell they had a terrified look of dispair in their eyes. The third girl was just staring at me and was on the phone screaming in another language. Panning back at Rosmus he was violently undjulating like a fish out of water on top of them and realized he locked onto my gaze. He was flipping me off the whole time. Told me 'quit meat gazing and warm up the third one.' I was frozen to the seat. When it was all said and done it seemed like he was trying to pay them in Taco Bell coupons and they were PISSED! He raced back in the car and told me to floor it when they started screaming at him. The second I went 26 in a 25 he slammed on the bake and lectures me for half an hour about the dangers of speeding. When all was said and done he said he couldn't pass me on the count of not using 'LAMB' (Lights, Adjust seats, Mirrors, Belts) when we first entered the Skylark. I've never been able to get a license or have an intimate relationship with a woman. Thanks Hampshire Driving School.

I learned so much more than when I was driving with my fatherr. At first I was scared to drive with a total stranger. instructors were kind and didnt yell at me. Totally felt comfortable drivign with Mr Ellis most of all. They showed me how to park and drive on highwauy. Got to learn city driving which was scariest of all. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn driving. The only bummer was no stickshift cars. My class was good. Got to meet alot of new people.

BEWARE OF THIS DRIVING SCHOOL!!! I don't know if they are having financial problems or have an accountant fooling around with company money. My story: -I registered my son for a class. They charged my credit card (cc) immediately. -One week before class was to start, they canceled citing not enough registered and refund is coming. -Ten days later, still no refund in sight. My calls were never returned, but office manager responded to my e-mails telling me it was in the hands of the accountant. -Over the next few days and persistent follow-up, I was told my refund would come by check! (Check? I expected to be credited on my cc, but oh well.) Office mgr was only 'relaying message from accountant'. At this point, I'll take whatever. Money is tight because now I had to register with another driving school (paid in full on first session), and pay my CC bill too! (I could not pay my CC balance because I was out of funds with this double whammy!) -Another week goes by, still no refund check in the mail. Calls are not returned, but office manager e-mail says it's on its way. I ask when exactly was it mailed. After two days, I get response saying 'it was mailed yesterday'. WHAT??? After all my calls, e-mails and persistent follow-ups, they knew I NEEDED that money yet they did not mail that stupid check!!! They were CONSCIOUSLY aware that THEY WERE LYING TO ME about the check being on its way. -Four days later.... still no check in my mailbox. Office mgr says it was mailed. -Finally, almost one month after Hampshire Driving School took my money, a check appears in the mail. And guess what! There is something wrong with it! (good grief) 1 - It is addressed to correct street but wrong town! (On purpose perhaps? A delaying tactic so check wouldn't get to me?) 2 - Check was Paid To: My 15-year-old son! Hello? The credit card you charged was NOT my son's card, why send the refund to my son? ARE YOU FOLKS DUMB??? But then again, it has to be another delaying tactic, perhaps in hopes that the son does not have a bank account to deposit the money into, buying them more time. There is definitely some suspicious activity going on at this business. I am thinking of reporting them to the BBB.

I had a horrible experience with the Drivers Ed class at Conval in Peterborough. The teacher Teena Phillips is the (!!WORST!!) Teacher I have ever had for an instructor. The moment that woman met me she hated me! I came to class 5 minutes early EVERY day I was the first student in that class to get all paper work done for her! Every time I would go for a driving lesson that was for an hour she ALWAYS criticized every move I made. She chucked a black pen at me while I was behind the steering wheel. She made awful comments to me about my driving! She picked favorites at the very beginning and she made me her worst enemy! A driving instructor like that must have major issues either in her life with her family or all of the above. She isn’t experienced enough to teach not just 6 or 9 kids but 18 kids in her class. She always made enough time to teach her favorite students in her class, but yet she never made time to teach any of her other students how to properly drive on the road! She’s not a proper teacher to teach driving classes to minors that have no clue what they’re getting themselves into. A few of my friends that were in the class with me we never got as much attention as the others did and picking favorites from teachers only benefits the favorites leaving the others to suffer and wing everything else on their own. The price at Conval High School was double what it should have been! What a rip off for a driving school class for teenagers! The amount of pressure that is already on teens now a days is worse than ever and now doubling it adding in an instructor claiming to know how to teach TEENS how to drive on the road putting everyone’s life on the line! She picks and chooses when to enforce her “rules” so be careful if you’re not a favorite in her class trust me you will get screwed badly (!WHAT A JOKE SHE IS!) Teena Phillips is a teacher that claims she knows what she’s doing and says shell help you but only if you’re one of her favorites. I’ve never seen a teacher lie straight to a parents face before and have a poker face to add onto it, until now. She lies to a person so easily it’s hard to tell when she’s telling the truth or when it really is a complete lie. It’s very frightening situation with this woman but that’s coming from my family and I. She made me so angry every time I came out of her class. She gave candy to the class but her favorites were the ones that got most of it. That woman didn’t teach me anything but how to open a car door and to turn on the ignition.

I'm an alumnus of this school and I think these comments about Mr. Rosmus are silly. I had basically all my lessons with him because that is all I could schedule and I was terrified because of what everyone had said. He is tough because he wants you to know that driving is serious business and can kill you. He taught me to be a safe driver. I have been driving for four years and have never gotten a ticket. I have been in two accidents, neither were my fault. I think if you act up and get yelled at, then it's your own fault.

I am very upset by the negative comments and yelling going on during driving time. My daughter is afraid to drive with the instructor, he seems mentally abusive. The reason why there are negative comments about Mr Rosmus is because he is by the book and strict about driving. He takes a serious approach to driving just as many of the students should but don't.

    • Published 7/10/2008 11:56 AM

Based on the number of negative comments about Mr. Rosmus, I'll not be enrolling my daughter in this school. One or two negative comments wouldn't sway me one way or the other but 15-20 sure does!

Overall, I was unimpressed by the faculty and facilities of the driving school. Mr. Rosmus, in particular, acted not only unprofessionally but dangerously. During one of my driving hours with him, he refused to allow me to lower the driver-seat visor for no other reason than to demonstrate his control. Each time I tried to shield the sun from my eyes, he would slam the visor into its original position. It was clear that he would sacrifice not only my safety but other people's safety as well to satisfy his ego.

1. Enroll in an Online Drivers Education Course

Drivers ed online courses are available to first-time drivers in Florida who wish to maximize convenience and fulfill state requirements. Florida drivers education course completion is required to obtain a learners permit within the state and begin behind-the-wheel training. DMV.com's trusted partner for online driver's education is approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. DriversEd.com is America's #1 online driving school, offering 100% online courses that come with free unlimited practice tests and include the final permit test, saving you a trip to the DHSMV! 2. Traditional Courses With Private Companies

Flvs

If you cannot enroll in a digital driving course, traditional traffic classes with instructors are also available through various in-person providers. However, these driving classes are only offered at approved locations within Florida and may not be offered near your residence. Furthermore, scheduling for in-person traffic school is inflexible, and drivers are expected to attend classes no matter how inconvenient the time or location.

3. Traditional Courses at High Schools

First time driver classes can also be taken in person at various local high schools in Florida. However, these traditional driving lessons can be even more difficult to fit into your schedule than the private company courses because of the restrictions presented by school hours. Furthermore, because taking TLSAE driving classes online provides students with the same material as in-person courses, most first-time drivers opt for online enrollment. New Florida drivers must complete a drivers education course in order to receive their learners permit. A Florida driving course consists of information on traffic laws, road signs and DUI regulations in the state. Additionally, first-time drivers will be required to complete Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE). To qualify for an FL driving permit, you must be at least 15 years of age. Young drivers in FL can enroll in an online drivers education course.

Take your DriversEd.com State-Approved Course Online and Ace Your DMV Exam!

Drivers education in Florida is required for all young motorists who are seeking a learner’s permit in the state. This means that all new drivers who are between 14-and-a-half and 17 years of age must take drives ed classes to earn a license. In FL, these courses are also known as Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) programs. Moreover, students may enroll in drivers ed online through public classes or third-party courses.

A driver education course in FL will teach new motorists all of the important aspects related to driving. These include defensive driving techniques, the importance of avoiding drugs and alcohol and how to manage road-side emergencies. At the end of a drivers ed course, students will receive a certificate of completion, which must be submitted to the FLHSMV in order to obtain a permit. Keep reading below to understand what needs to be done in order to complete drivers ed school in Florida.

Who needs to take drivers ed in Florida?

Registration for drivers ed in Florida is required for teens who are between 14-and-a-half and 17 years of age. As such, all teenage motorists seeking to acquire a learner’s permit must first complete drivers ed classes. Alternatively, drivers who are at least 18 years of age do not have to meet the same driver education course requirements.

Types of Drivers Ed Classes in Florida

Drivers ed classes in FL can be completed either online or in a classroom. Overall, most motorists are drawn to registering for drivers ed online as these programs offer more convenience and flexibility. However, various high schools throughout the state offer the Driver Education Licensing Assistance Program (DELAP), and third-party institutions offer different types of in-person classes.

Florida Online Drivers Ed vs. In-Person Courses

Taking driver ed online classes is slightly different from undergoing an in-person course. For example, students who choose to take an online driver ed course will be able to complete their lessons at any time that suits them. Moreover, drivers ed online classes allow students to set their own learning pace. A provider like DriversEd.com offers this convenient online option for new motorists. Through this trusted third-party provider, residents can complete their driver education course online and gain access to the official permit test.

On the other hand, in-classroom drivers education programs are optimal for students who prefer the traditional approach to learning. This way, residents can have their questions answered by both peers and instructors. However, students must be mindful that they will have a set time to complete work on their driver education program taken in person.

What will you learn in a Florida drivers ed school?

At an FL drivers ed school, students learn about many important topics that will help keep them safe on the road. These topics range from traffic controls to special driving situations.

In addition, new motorists will learn how different mental and physical states and other motorists on the road may affect their own driving. By the end of drivers education school, students will understand FL traffic laws, defensive driving techniques and the best practices for driving under different weather conditions.

Florida Drivers Education Requirements

The primary FL drivers education requirement is the completion of the Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education course. However, new motorists must also complete at least 50 hours of driver training. Of those 50 hours, 10 must consist of nighttime driving before they can apply for a full license.

Benefits of a Florida Driver Education Course

Completing an FL driver education course can help make students better motorists. Drivers education classes teach residents how to operate their vehicles in different situations and mental states. Furthermore, they will learn about the importance of avoiding drugs and alcohol especially while driving.

Overall, a drivers ed school will provide new motorists with all the knowledge they need to effectively handle driving situations and keep themselves and others safe on the road. As a result, they can decrease their chances of being in an accident or stopped for violating a traffic law.

Furthermore, students who register for an online drivers ed course can earn credits toward their online learning requirement that leads them to obtain full licenses. Generally, completing these courses will count as a half credit.

How to Enroll in a Florida Driver Ed School

Before enrolling in a Florida drivers ed school, motorists need to find a provider who is approved by the FLHSMV. In general, both in-person and online drivers ed course providers are available in the state.

As an example, first-time motorists who are 18 years of age and older and need to complete an online drivers ed course can sign up with DriversEd.com. Through this third-party provider, drivers can complete the class on any device, take unlimited practice permit tests and feel confident in DriversEd.com’s 99.5 percent permit exam pass rate.

Florida DMV Drivers Ed Certificates

Students need an FL DMV drivers ed certificate in order to apply for a learner’s permit. That is because this certificate is one of the most important documents that applicants need to bring to their FLHSMV appointment.

The Florida driver education course certificate, otherwise known as a TLSAE waiver, is awarded to students after they complete their course. Sometimes, this certificate is automatically sent electronically to the FLHSMV.

Drivers Ed for New Florida Residents

School

Enrolling in FL drivers ed is a requirement for new residents who have never held or do not possess a drivers license from a different state or country. As such, these motorists must complete drivers education classes before applying for a Florida license. This is a requirement for new residents who are younger or older than 18 years of age.

Florida Drivers Ed vs. Traffic School

There are several key differences between FL drivers ed and traffic school. First, a drivers ed course is for new motorists who have never held a license. This type of course is primarily for teens between 14-and-a-half and 17 years of age.

Additionally, first-time drivers who are 18 years of age and older must also attend drivers education classes if they have never held a license in any other state or country. In both adult and teen driving school, students learn about vehicle operation and safety in depth in addition to the importance of avoiding alcohol and drugs while operating a car.

In contrast to a drivers education school, traffic school is for experienced motorists. Drivers are typically required to attend traffic school after receiving certain citations such as speeding or driving while under the influence. Unlike drivers education, traffic school programs focus on correcting negative driving behaviors rather than providing a brand-new overview of vehicle operation.

Conval Drivers Ed

Florida Driver Education Fees

Driver education in Florida has a wide range of costs. Certain courses are even available for free. However, most drivers ed prices offered by third-party providers will range between $8 and $29.
